S.V.V.F.B. is pleased to announce the relaunch of our website after a major upgrade. Our original site, which was launched back in 2002, has been completely redesigned and updated over the last few months.
Our new website utilises the latest web technology to deliver a more professional-looking website that will be easier for visitors to navigate and, just as importantly, much easier for us to update.
Although there have been major changes to the design, layout, and functionality of the site, the most significant change is actually "under the hood". After five years of doing our best to maintain our website using nothing but old-style "static HTML" (which is extremely time-consuming), we've finally been able implement a database-driven Content Management System (CMS), powered by the latest version of Joomla! A CMS-based website offers us a level of flexibility that wasn't previously available with our original site. This will allow us to instantly make changes to the site, and to update the content much more easily than before.
Our new and improved website was launched on 1st December 2007 to coincide with the Stokes Valley Christmas parade, which passes by the fire station. To promote the relaunch, the brigade made up a large banner with our website address (URL) printed on it, which has been hung outside the front of the station. We plan to display the banner during all future Christmas parades, brigade Open Days and other special occasions.
Unfortunately, due to a minor technical issue that we weren't able to resolve before the new site went live, our Photo Gallery isn't currently available. We hope to have our photos back online as soon as possible. Please also bear with us over the next few days while we iron out a few small bugs and broken links, etc.
For all enquiries and/or feedback regarding our new website, you can contact us here.
